Look, I adore outdoor family sessions, but sometimes a studio is just the answer. Seriously, Texas weather can be unbearable, and faking a smile while thinking about your growing pit stains or trying not to shiver in the wind is not ideal. In addition to shelter from the weather, a studio also offers the predictability of controlled lighting set-ups and the opportunity to use fun, themed backgrounds that aren't ideal for the outdoors. I almost hate to admit it (like I hate admitting when my husband is “right”), but yeah, studios are quickly becoming a go-to.

As I’m starting to rely more on studios, I want to hype up my favorite Mesquite Photo Studios and encourage you to check them out—whether you’re a fellow photographer or a future client ready for an indoor session, this post is for you!

Lume & Sage Studio by Estera Matras

Mequite's newest studio features five-plus masterfully designed and rotating sets in just over 800 sq. feet. Together they are characterized by warmth and remarkable creativity. 

Upon entering, it’s clear that Estera is an ARTIST in every way. She channels her creativity and care into her sets, making use of every available wall and angle, and graciously makes her works of art available to others. The sets at Lume & Sage are for immediate, seamless shooting; they are designed to be photographed as they are, which creates an optimal and efficient experience for all arriving guests.

What to expect...

Construction is a mess around La Prada and I-635 (shocker, I know), so maps can be kinda useless. Get a good look at where it is on the map and follow it old-school (that’s right, I’d turn Siri off)! Once you find the spot, though, it’s a breeze and parking right in front of the entrance. 

Estera has personally greeted me every time and stuck around in her office during my whole booking—ready to answer questions if needed. (Seriously, she’s a lifesaver.)

Most Versatile & Best Natural Light Studio:

The Photo Space

This was the first studio I visited in Mesquite, and I keep coming back for projects. It’s just under 1000 sq ft with full-length windows on two walls and bright white walls and floors—so basically a natural-light photographer's dream. 

The Photo Space often has ready-to-use holiday sets if you're feeling festive, but there's plenty of space, furniture, props, and rolling walls available to make your own vision come to life. 

Parking is also just steps from the entrance here. This studio also gets mad props for usually having music playing that helps set the mood the second you walk in! (One more thing I don’t have to think about but creates a experience for my clients!)

That past Christmas set-up? A big high-five to The Photo Space for partnering with Bianca of B Del Bosque Photography! She curated a truly special holiday set. Partnering up with another local—that’s just good karma. (Meet Bianca!)

New Wine Photo Studio by Belysian Photography

I haven’t been to Danni’s new spot, but I would be remiss not to include New Wine Photo Studio when speaking on the topic of Mesquite photo studios. I have seen up close how intricate and invested Danni is in setting up unique, moody sets that draw you in and invite you to create. Unfortunately, openings are limited, so I haven’t created yet in the new space yet, but I hope to soon! Beat on the street (yes, it even came up in casual conversation while out and about) is that it’s an awesome space!
